Andrew Okessen, 93, of Levittown, died on Jan. 24, 2004. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Franklin Square and then to Levittown where he lived for 50 years. He is survived by a sister, Ann Kimball of Las Vegas, NM; brother Eugene Okessen of Medford; nephews, Richard Kimball of The Villages, FL, Jonathan J. Kimball of Shirley, Craig Kimball of Richmond, VA; and niece, Valerie Guerriero of Henderson, CO.
Mr. Okessen overcame polio as a child and went on to serve during WWII in the Army Air Force. He retired as vice president and manager from the Hempstead Bank in 1973 after nearly 45 years of service in the Hempstead and Levittown branches. He was one of the originators of the Levittown branch.
He was an avid golfer and horseracing fan but had time for membership in the Franklin Square Historical Society, the Levittown Historical Society and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Republican National Committee, the Levittown Exchange Club, the National Exchange Club and a treasurer for the Salvation Army.
The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Levittown Chapel. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at the funeral home. Burial in the family plot at Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead.
Sally Lombardi, 76, a resident of Levittown for 40 years, passed away on Jan. 25, 2004. She was a beloved member of St. Bernard's Parish, worked and bowled at North Levittown Lanes for 20 years and had a smile that would light up a room and those who knew her said she had a heart of gold. She is survived by her loving husband, Nicholas (Nick); five children, Anna Marie, Gary, Tommy, Linda and Lisa; 10 grandchildren, Nikki, Michael, Tommy, Charlie, Jennifer, Sammy, Alexis, Jamie, Nicholas and Jake; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas. She will be very much missed.
