As Nick Mormando so fondly tells the story, it was February 4, 1954 when he purchased North and South Levittown Lanes. Levittown was sprouting up all around the bowling center: each just 16 lanes with pin-boys, now 36 lanes, computerized scoring, food service counters, bars and all the amenities people have come to expect in bowling.
Mormando, then operating a center in Queens, moved his wife Marie, daughter Lynn and infant son Frank to Levittown to run his businesses and in 1960 added Westbury Bowl in the fold.
Frank Mormando, that once infant son, has for some time been responsible for all day to day operations of these bowling centers and takes great pride in celebrating his family's 50th anniversary at Levittown Lanes. He invites everyone to visit either or both Levittown centers or Westbury Bowl from Monday, Feb. 16 to Friday, Feb. 20, President's Week, and bowl a game for just 50 cents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate this historic event.
