The MacArthur Boys Basketball team is off to a fast start in League A-I with a record of 3-0 (7-2 overall). MacArthur opened the League season by dominating New Hyde Park by the score of 86-45, The Generals scored 27 1st quarter points with senior Erik Milk's 11 points leading the way. Junior Steve Belmonte (12) and Joe Cammarata (11) combined for 23 points. Senior Rick Bailey contributed with 11 points. The Generals then hosted league favorite Roslyn. With MacArthur in early foul trouble, juniors Andrew Kost, Steve Belmonte and Vin D'Accordo kept the Generals in the game ending the first half with the lead 31-28. In the second half, Joe Cammarata scored 13 points as the Generals sealed the victory with a score of 63-55. Senior Erik Milk earned his first double, double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Erik's defense against Roslyn's top player, Willy Dillard, was also instrumental in the victory. MacArthur finished the week by defeating cross-town rival Division by the score of 55-32. It was a great defensive effort by junior Mike Gerdes (10 points) and senior Rob Goetchius that led the Generals to victory. Joe Cammarata led the team with 16 points, 3 steals and Erik Milk collected his second consecutive double, double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
