ICC Falls Victim to Vandalism
While the Israel Community Center (ICC) is unfortunately used to finding signs of vandalism in or around their playground and building, they were recently victims of one of the greatest hits in recent history. And the center is not alone, as other religious institutions, including St. Bernard's, Good Shepherd and Temple Sholom, as well as schools in the community, have also had hits of vandalism.

Town of Hempstead Holds 2004 Induction Ceremony
Before a standing-room-only crowd at Hempstead Town Hall last Monday, America's largest township inducted the first woman ever elected supervisor, three councilmembers, the receiver of taxes and town clerk during a special ceremony.

MacArthur Defends Holiday Tournament
The MacArthur Boys Basketball team won their second annual Holiday Championship by defeating cross town rival Division by the score of 62-43. Junior Joe Cammarata scored 21 points and earned the Jeff Shaw MVP Award. Senior Erik Milk had eight points and nine rebounds and Junior Vin D'Accordo added eight points, as both players were named to the All-Tournament Team. Division's Pat Harloff (18 points) and Jeff Knight (10 points) were named to the All-Tournament Team along with Island Trees' Ryan Salvage and Clarke's Joe Barracato. In the first round, D'Accordo scored 22 points and Junior Scott Rodgers had 12 points as the Generals cruised to a 69-28 win over Island Trees. Proceeds for the tournament contribute to a scholarship in name of Jeff Shaw. The coaching staff would like to thank all the players' parents, as well as the administration, for all their help in running such a great tournament.

Congratulations to the Girls 7th grade Volleyball team on their win over Salk. The Lady Dogs played their best match to date this season winning 3 straight games to clinch the victory. Meghan Biondolillo, Briana Meehan, Alison Gronenthal, Angelina DeLardi and Megan Hollett had amazing serving runs, while Danielle Doller, Laura Benvenuto, Meghan Carey, Ashley Moore and Stephanie Kaiser displayed tremendous hustle on the court. Christina Merrill, Rebecca Burleson, Michelle Duffy and Jillian McGovern all made notable saves. Jill Foster, Nichole Coradini, Deanna Brown, Alyssa Ambrosio and Jackie Michelsen also need to be commended on their excellent use of communication.
