Tax Exemptions for Disabled, Seniors on Fixed Incomes Approved
Nassau County Legislator Dennis Dunne recently announced that the Legislature approved two pieces of legislation that will provide county property tax relief for senior citizens living with disabilities. These exemptions are limited to those residents who live on a fixed income that is described in the legislation. The legislation raises the income levels by approximately $2,500, therefore those people who qualified for last year's exemptions need to examine the new levels to determine if they qualify for a higher exemption. Dunne said about the legislation, "each year we provide assistance to seniors and the disabled living in Nassau County. We want these people to continue to live in and contribute to their communities." Anybody with questions regarding their eligibility may contact Legislator Dunne's office at 571-6215.
