Every citizen who lives in any area that has a candidate running for office automatically goes to the election poles every November to exercise their right to cast a vote in the election. Recently during a discussion about the upcoming elections for fire district commissioners I was amazed at the number of people who were not aware of the way this election is held. A majority of these people were under the impression that they were elected by their fellow firefighters. The fact of the matter is that each December, when a vacancy for commissioner arises every registered voter living in the community can cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice by going to their local firehouse where the election machines just like the ones used for general election in November are used for the election. Remember to vote on Dec. 9, it's your constitutional right and privilege.
