What does Kiwanis stand for?

The K stands for Kindness extended by Kiwanians to each other and the kindness we extend to those in need. The kinship that we share at our interclubs and meetings.

The I stands for Independence. Each club operating independently of each other and also as a team.

The W stands for Willingness. The willingness to work together as part of a team to help those less fortunate than we are.

The A stands for Accomplishments. We have many and we have the ability to accomplish more. Additional members, additional projects with additional help.

The N stands for Never. Kiwanians never say NO...to those in need, to a project and to each other.

The I stands for the most important individual, and that is I. What can I do to become a better, more active member of my club, my community, my family of Kiwanis? How can I help, what can I give or donate to help our club projects? Kiwanians give back to their communities; they do not take.

The S stands for Someone. There is someone out there who needs our help. A child who needs a week at Kamp Kiwanis, etc. A family having a rough time and can use help, especially during the Holiday Season. A Thanksgiving Basket, a Christmas or Hanukkah party. A senior citizen in need of companionship, a meal or an afternoon out. Kiwanis is ready to answer their call for help.

Please help people in your community. Donate to our annual food drive.

Please be a Kiwanian!

Would you like to help us help young children? Then join us.

Would you like to join an organization of community people who give back to their community? Are you interested in joining? Please come to one of our meetings for a "look see." I guarantee you'll be impressed.

Did you know Kiwanis has a website? For you computer hackers: check out the Kiwanis International website at www.kiwanis.org.

Please save all your soda/drink flip top tabs and all your Campbell soup labels and General Mills box tops and turn them in to the Levittown Kiwanis Club at one of our meetings. You may ask: why labels and soda tabs? The labels and box tops go to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, which they redeem for a monetary amount. The soda tabs go to the Fork Lane School in Hicksville and they give them to the Nassau County Medical Center Burn Unit.
