  • News: Historical Society Announces Home and Garden Contest Winners

    The Levittown Historical Society sponsored for the first time this year a Home and Garden Contest to all residents who live in the community. Although not too many residents participated, the society felt the contest was a success and honored all who entered with prizes. The overall winners were Jan and Ken Stuke, who received the grand prize, a $50 gift certificate to Domenico's Restaurant in Levittown. In addition to the Stukes, the remaining 10 entrants received "honorable mention" awards at the society's regular monthly meeting held Oct. 20 in the Mildred Cantor Room at the Levittown Library.   • News: John Tufarelli Named Small Businessperson of the Year

    Being honored by one's local chamber of commerce as a Small Businessperson of the Year is already quite an accomplishment. Levittown resident John Tufarelli, a member of both the Levittown and East Meadow Chambers of Commerce, received the honor this year from both organizations. Tufarelli was presented with the awards during the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 19th annual Small Businessperson and Legislative Breakfast held before a large crowd of over 600 people Oct. 24 at the Crest Hollow Country Club.   • Sports: LSW and Wantagh Astros Baseball Merge

    Levittown South-Wantagh baseball and softball has voted to merge with the Wantagh Astros advanced travel league. The vote was held at an executive board meeting on Oct. 22, and was a unanimous decision. While over 90 percent of the Astros players already play for the LSW intramural program, we do allow others to try out for the teams. It is our intention to allow players who wish to play at a higher level of to be able to do so in our community. We have realized that there are other children from other local leagues expressing interest in our travel program. FULL STORY

  • Sports: MacArthur Wrestling Challenges for Fourth Straight NC Dual Meet and Tournament Title

    On Nov. 17, the Generals will take to the mat. MacArthur hopes to win their fourth straight Nassau county dual meet and tournament title, though MacArthur lost 16 seniors to graduation, 11 of which were Nassau county place-winners. Coach Greenblatt feels optimistic about the Generals' quest. Long Beach, Massapequa, East Meadow and Bethpage all return most of their line-ups and they will all challenge for the county title. Coach Greenblatt feels the squad is very inexperienced but they show a lot of promise. The program's work ethic has always helped them to overachieve. FULL STORY
