Senator Kemp Hannon is sponsoring a free forum on strategies to meet the needs of long term care, an expense that most people are unprepared for. The program, "Long Term Care - A Critical Issue," will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Island Trees Public Library, from 1 to3 p.m.
"I am offering this free forum because long term care is an issue that has become critically important. Over the next 10 to 20 years more than half the people over age 65 will need long term care sometime in their lives and that expenditure can be a huge financial burden on most families, Hannon said. "I encourage seniors and their families to explore their options now so they can spend their 'golden years' doing the things they have always dreamed about: traveling, enjoying new hobbies or sharing the company of family and friends."
The forum, "Long Term Care - A Critical Issue," will feature the following panelists: Raymond P. Donnelly and John E. Appelt of Senior Network Solutions, LTD, and includes information about the New York State Partnership for Long Term Care program. Hannon said, "These experts will provide information that can help you protect your future and enjoy the fruits of all of your hard work."
In addition to the seminar, free materials will be available about long term care insurance, the EPIC drug prescription program and other issues of concern to senior citizens.
The Island Trees Public Library is located on 38 Farmedge Road, Levittown. Registration for the program opens at 12:45 p.m. To reserve a seat, call Senator Hannon's community office at 739-1700.
