'Spirit of America' Quilt Unveiled at Town Hall
This past April, when Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray hosted the Town's "Support Our Troops" rally at Newbridge Road Park, attending residents brought patriotic swatches of red, white or blue for a quilt project the Town was publicizing.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League Update
The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League did not have as good of a turnout for their August 21 tournament as they had been having, but still had a good number of 27 golfers on hand. Scoring was about average with a couple of good rounds. One really good round was by John Geier who had a net 25. There were only two birdies and they were both in the first group of the tournament. Wes Villazon got one on the par 3, 172 yard, 2nd hole and Lew Rezoagli got the other on the par 3, 150 yard 2nd hole. In the match play Al Lippman and Jim Anderson won their matches today and move on to the final round in four weeks.

Sprint for the Parks: Local Runners Score
Over 300 runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes headed for Eisenhower Park on the evening of Aug. 10 with a dual purpose in mind - to enjoy an excellent 5 Kilometer race hosted by the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC) and, at the same time, to help "give back" to Nassau County park and recreational programs by raising funds for direct park and recreational use.
