Levittown West Little League's Williamsport Team Wins LI Championship
History was made for Levittown West Little League this past weekend when their 11/12-year-old Williamsport team competed for the NY State title. They won their first game at the State level against Bayside, New York City's District winner, by a score of 4-2. This is the first time in 13 years that West went on to compete at the State level and the first time in the 53-year history of the League that West won a game at the State level.

Wanted: Volunteers Needed for YOM Community Center
Three years ago James Edmondson began the Yours, Ours, Mine Courtyard and Sensory Garden in the hopes of one day having residents who live and work within the community relax and appreciate nature's offerings. Yet, with inadequate finances and sparse volunteers, the community center is having a difficult time in completing the project.

DAHS Blue Dragon Baseball Hosts Fifth Annual Golf Classic
Division Avenue High School Blue Dragon Baseball will be holding its annual golf classic to support the baseball program on Tuesday, Aug. 12 (6:30 a.m. sign-in, 7:30 a.m. tee time). This event is being held in memory of John Rosenberg. It will take place at Hamlet Wind Watch Golf Club in Hauppauge. Cost is $145 per person and includes breakfast, golf and cart, food, soda and beer on course, three-hour open bar (liquor, draft beer, wine and soda), BBQ after golf (London broil and chicken), great giveaways and trophies. Island Trees United-Jr. Rowdies (U-16 Boys) Stay Hot With Another Title
After winning the Paul Riley Indoor League in the winter and becoming the first Island Trees team to ever win the State Cup, the boys kept their hot streak alive. After dropping their first game of the Oneonta Legends of Summer Hall of Fame Tournament to an extremely talented Syracuse club, the boys would not allow another goal, defeating that very same team in the finals.
