Community Council's Annual Picnic and Bake-Off Takes Place This Weekend

Levittown Community Council's Sixth Annual Lazy Days Picnic and Bake-Off will take place on Saturday, July 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jerusalem Avenue Pool at the East Village Green.

Council President Donna Ryan invites the community to attend this popular event, which is a day of free fun and entertainment for residents of Levittown and its surrounding communities. Each year, the Levittown Community Council produces two events, the Winter Festival in February and Lazy Days of Summer Picnic in July, that are free to families and provide children and adults with a day of activities, entertainment and an opportunity to relax and mingle with friends, family and neighbors. A petting zoo and pony rides, face painting, basketball contests, crafts and games are the order of the day, and, the beautiful Jerusalem Avenue pool offers a respite from the heat of the day.

"This event is one every family should come out for," said Ryan. "What began during the 50th anniversary of Levittown has grown into one of the most popular summer events in the area."

Once again, the Community Council will be holding the annual bake-off contest. Anyone wishing to enter the bakeoff should bring their cake, cookies or pies or other baked creations to the picnic area at 3 p.m. Judging will take place at 4 p.m.

Families are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets, picnic lunches and beverages or take advantage of the buy one/get one free pizza offer by La Focaccia Restaurant or other offers by merchants at the East Village Green directly across from the pool and park.

The Jerusalem Avenue pool and park is located on Jerusalem Avenue in Levittown, north of Hempstead Turnpike.
