The Town of Hempstead is pleased to announce its seventh annual Calendar Photograph Contest. Each year, the town produces the calendar, which is delivered to every resident.

What makes our calendar unique is that our residents take all the photographs. Friends and neighbors are asked to submit their own original photographs that depict a seasonal Town of Hempstead event, park, neighborhood or other happening. The pictures must be taken within our township.

Judges will choose at least 12 winners (one photograph for each month of the year) and a few others for the front, back and cover portions of the calendar.

The following criteria will apply to contest participants:

The contest will be open to all Town of Hempstead residents including town employees. Participants can submit up to five photographs (any size up to 8" by 10"). The deadline for submitting photographs is Monday, Sept. 15. Slides, transparencies or copies of photographs may NOT be submitted. Only printed photographs in black and white or color will be accepted. Digital photographs, saved as jpeg files on floppy discs or e-mailed to jonible@tohmail.org, may also be submitted. Keep in mind, due to the format of the calendar, horizontal photographs fit best.

All photographs must be accompanied by a descriptive paragraph indicating the name of the photographer, his or her address and phone number, the approximate date the picture was taken, the location of the scene and the names of the individuals in the photograph. The photographer is responsible for the correct spelling of the names of the people in the photos as well as notifying them that their picture may appear in the Town of Hempstead 2004 calendar.
