Car Slams Into Levittown Home
A Levittown family received a rude awakening early Sunday morning, June 8, when a car crashed into the front of their home. The Wantagh Fire Department, Nassau County Police and Wantagh/Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WLVAC) responded to the 2:45 a.m. call.

Assembly Sex Crimes Task Force Hosts Public Forum
Members of the Assembly Republican Task Force on Sex Crimes Against Children and Women (SAVE-New York) met in Hempstead Town Hall earlier this month to listen to testimony from experts in the fields of child abuse treatment and prevention, as well as advocates for a stronger Megan's Law and other measures to protect children across the state from sexual predators. This was the second forum held across the state, the first was held in Albany.

ITHS Hosts Athletic Banquet
On Tuesday, June 3, the Island Trees High School Athletic Banquet was held at The Sterling at Bethpage. Jennifer D'Albenzio and Donald Peterson were the recipients of the Ted Petersen Scholarship. Matthew Fiorello was the recipient of the Rita Benson Scholarship. Chauncey Garcia and Jessica Marciano received the Armed Services Award. The Fanfare Scholarship, which is an award that acknowledges the spirit of cooperation between the athletic and music departments, and to recognize an individual who excels on the playing field as well as in music, was given to Jennifer D'Albenzio. Chauncey Garcia was the recipient of the Island Trees Baseball League Scholarship. Jennifer D'Albenzio, Chelsea Marciano, Jessica Marciano, Melanie Hallas, Teresa Grassi, Joseph McCauley, Peter Ruff, Peter McAllister and Erin Dodge were the recipients of the Island Trees Soccer Club Scholarship. Junior Varsity football coach and former Island Trees student athlete, Tom McCormic, was chosen as the Doris Uhlig Coach of the Year by his peers. Jennifer D'Albenzio and Michael Rossi were voted Outstanding Athletes of the Year by the Island Trees coaching staff.
