"Renovations at South Levittown Lanes are nearing completion," reports Frank Mormando, proprietor of North and South Levittown Lanes, as he prepares a major remodeling of sister center North Levittown Lanes, set to begin this summer.

New settees, flooring, promenade tables and seating, entrances, nursery, party room, offices and shoe room, plus new channels and bumpers, wall treatments and club lighting are all completed at South Levittown Lanes. All that remains to be done is new carpeting and steps and promenade flooring tiles to accent entrances and pathways throughout the center.

Outside upgrades include new signage and entrance canopy, already done. Not seen, but felt, a new 40-ton air conditioning unit will keep the cool over the hot summer months.

North Levittown Lanes will begin renovations this summer with the installation of new synthetic lanes and pin decks, new channels and bumpers, new foul lights and new carpeting throughout the center. A few other surprises are on the horizon, but are still in the planning stages.

In 2004, the Mormandos will be celebrating their "50th Anniversary" in the bowling business in North Levittown lanes. Nick Mormando, Frank's dad, bought North Levittown Lanes, a16-lane, pin boy-operated center in 1954 and a year later bought South Levittown Lanes. In 1962, Nick bought Westbury Bowl.
