"In order to make it convenient for residents to pay their second half school tax bills, my office is extending hours of operation and offering multiple locations to make payments," said Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin. "Residents can pay in person at the main office located in Hempstead, at our two satellite offices or at our mobile town hall."

Clavin is bringing his mobile office to a community near you. For your convenience, the mobile Receiver of Taxes office will be open to receive checks and money orders for school tax payments at the specified locations from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Monday, May 5

Franklin Square Senior Center

1182 Martha Place, Franklin Square

Wednesday, May 7

Merrick Senior Center

2550 Clubhouse Road, Merrick

Friday, May 9

Oceanside Senior Center

2900 Rockaway Avenue, Oceanside

"Residents who may have limited time or ability to travel to the main tax office can take advantage of our mobile town hall, which brings town government closer to taxpayers," said Clavin.

During peak collection periods, office hours will be extended at the main tax office, located at 200 North Franklin Avenue in Hempstead. Hours of operation will be extended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 for your convenience. "Our fully staffed main office can assist taxpayers with account inquiries and all forms of payments," Clavin said.

In addition, satellite offices at Rock Hall Museum, located at 199 Broadway in Lawrence, and Levittown Hall, located at 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville, will be open to receive checks and money orders for tax payments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12.

"Supervisor Murray and I are committed to assisting taxpayers in any way that we can," concluded Clavin. "While no one ever enjoys paying their taxes, we are continually looking at ways to make it more convenient for residents to do so. This is one more way in which Hempstead Town strives to provide the highest level of service to residents."

Clavin reminds residents that the May 10 deadline for paying the second half of school taxes is rapidly approaching. Anyone with questions about a tax payment should contact the office of Receiver of Taxes at 538-1500.
