The Levittown PAL lacrosse teams, the Tomahawks and the Lady Tomahawks, began their season on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 with a series of exciting and fun games. Here are the weekend results.
3rd Grade: Final Score: Lynbrook (7), Levittown (4) Tanner Haggard (11), Devon Votta (14), Sean Fechtmann (4), and Tyler Cox (6) each scored a goal unassisted. The team's goalie, Louis Demetro (7) made 13 saves and played an outstanding game. Tyler Haug (12) added to the team's defense by executing some good checks and by clearing the ball. Mat Forman (10) played a very aggressive game for the third graders. The coach would like to congratulate the entire team for a job well done. 4th Grade: Final Score: Levittown (7), Cold Spring Harbor (4) The Levittown Tomahawks fourth grade team started the season off with a big win on Sunday, April 6. The cold air, blistering wind and their opponent, Cold Spring Harbor were no match for the Tomahawks. They took the lead when Thomas Nuckel scored the first of his four goals early in the first quarter and didn't look back. Patrick Dreiss, Jamie McAndrew, and Brendan McNamara each added a goal. That wasn't all! Sean Anglim, Timothy Bailey, Patrick Buckley, Sean Horton, Kyle Jordan, and Harry Sopp all had fantastic games scooping up ground balls all over the field. The big story was the Tomahawks' defense Joseph Connors, Zach Esposito, Tyler Hasset, Peter Mack, Matthew Mascoli, and Zack Trimboli who held off the relentless Cold Spring Harbor offense. The goalie tandem of Thomas McDevitt and Max Transou were outstanding in the goal. Stay turned for more Tomahawks action! 5th Grade: The fifth grade Tomahawks started their season with an impressive win against Syosset. The Tomahawks dominated the first quarter with four goals. Fred Mase scored three goals for the team and Timmy Michels had two assists and did a great job scooping up ground balls. Dean Knox had one goal and two assists and Bryan Verbitsky had one goal and one assist. Patrick Barber and Daniel Bertlett each added one goal for the Tomahawks. Tommy Duggan led the attack by retrieving six ground balls. George Athans, Josh Barry, Dylan Muller and Brandon Mayes contributed to the team's impressive offense. The first year players, Tyler Smillie, Cory Triola, Anthony Ciaramitaro and Tommy Szabo all played an outstanding game. Leading the defense was Ryan Braithwaite, Joe Costabile, Sean Seiderman, Eric Ortiz and Peter Thearle. Matt Cronin defended the goal and made six saves. The fifth-graders will play next Sunday in Bethpage. 5th and 6th Grade: Final Score: North Babylon (7), Levittown (1) The fifth and sixth grade Levittown Tomahawks faced a tough squad Sunday, but showed true determination until the final whistle in a loss 7-1. Their coaches stated, "We are really proud of these guys, we suited ten first-time players and we see the potential for a great team in the works." Tommy Bruno stood tall playing in the goal, withstanding 20 shots on the net. The team's defense played well and was led by Cody Occhini, Mat Giame, Tim Whitlock, and Sean Kelley. They continuously worked together up against a strong passing team. The offense had a very strong showing and included Travis Hahn, Greg Linsalata, Jeremy Ball. Robert Giordano scored the only goal in the final minutes of the game. Your town is proud of your determination!
3rd and 4th Grade: Final Score: Tie (4-4) Congratulations to the third and fourth grade Levittown Lady Tomahawks who had their season opener on Sunday, April 6 at Levittown Memorial. All the girls played an amazing game, which ended in a 4-4 tie, both offensively and defensively. Chrissy Schreiber scored two goals and Katie Allocca and Christine Rea each added one goal. The team captains are Caitlin Cooksey and Emily Hanifan. The coaches honored Christine Rea with the game ball for being the outstanding player of the game.
