Island Trees Budget Set at 4.98 Percent
The Island Trees School District is facing a loss of state aid of $1,327,276 and mandated increases from the New York State Teachers Retirement System, the Employees Retirement System and the Empire Medical Plan of over $1,143,000. This loss of over 2.4 million dollars has presented the Island Trees Board of Education with many difficult decisions in formulating the upcoming 2003-2004 school budget.

In an effort to update the structure of its board of directors and facilitate day to day operations, trustees of the Yours Ours Mine (YOM) Community Center, Inc. have approved a change of title for James A. Edmondson from CEO to president and CEO.

2003 Island Trees Varsity Baseball Preview
The Island Trees varsity baseball team looks forward toward an exciting and successful 2003 campaign. The Bulldogs are three time defending League Champions, and would like to continue their winning tradition and commitment to excellence. The team graduated two-time All-County player, Michael Thompson, as well as All-County third baseman, Matt Ostrowski. Island Trees also graduated three time All-State player, and Diamond Award winner, Greg Thomson. The 2003 Bulldogs are a young, but experienced team that will compete in a tough league that pits them against teams such as Clarke, Bethpage, Valley Stream South, Mineola and Roslyn.

3rd Grade: Final Score: Lynbrook (7), Levittown (4) Tanner Haggard (11), Devon Votta (14), Sean Fechtmann (4), and Tyler Cox (6) each scored a goal unassisted. The team's goalie, Louis Demetro (7) made 13 saves and played an outstanding game.
