This year I say goodbye to many of my bowlers who started when I took over this team. Jen Rudolph started out on the boys' team and helped me start a girls bowling team at Division Avenue. She went out and recruited girls to form a team. She was the captain of this team which has successfully made the county tournament in the first three years of existence. This year she not only led the team but also led the seniors in the county. She averaged 193, had a high game of 247, and a high series of 670. She represented Division Avenue in the all county tournament for the third time this year and was joined by Michelle D'Attoma. Jen received the Wakefield Scholarship Award, which is given to the "most outstanding senior" in the county. She plans to attend Briarcliffe College to continue her education and her bowling career.

Joseph Capiroli came to tryouts with a mission. He had a slow start and almost did not make the Varsity team. He worked hard on his physical and mental game which helped raise his average to a 214. His high game was 279 and a high series of 736. Joe qualified to represent Division Avenue at the Individual All County Tournament. He finished sixth to qualify to represent Nassau County on the all-select team to compete at the state tournament on March 1 at East Meadow Lanes. There Joe continued to represent Division Avenue with pride; he not only bowled well (678 for the first set and 719 for the second), but was also selected for the sportsmanship award voted on by the coaches. Joe will continue his education at Briarcliffe College majoring in computer graphics and compete on their team.

Gary Shultis, another senior leaving us, ended a great career on high note. He was co-captain of the boys' team with Joe Capiroli. He averaged 208 with a high game of 277 and a high series of 727. He represented Division Avenue in the Individual All County Tournament for the second year in a row. This year he received the Keith Papas Scholarship Award for being a scholar athlete. Gary has not decided where he wants to go to college. His other love is NASCAR racing and hopes to continue in the field of engineering dealing with designing race cars.

Bobby Drezner and Nick DiSpirito also represented Division Avenue in the all county tournament.

To all my bowlers and especially my seniors I wish you good luck in all your future endeavors. Remember never to say I can't and always work hard.
