On March 18, Division Avenue High School held its annual sports awards ceremony for the 2002-2003 season. At this event, each athlete is acknowledged for his or her performance and dedication during the winter season. This year, three seniors received awards from New York State. They were Christina Buckley for basketball, Joe Caprioli for bowling and Chris Hagmaier for wrestling.

The girls basketball team qualified this year for the playoffs and lost to Malverne in the semifinals. Four of the five starters received awards from the league for their performance. Senior Christina Buckley was named All State for the second year in a row and was also named All County. Christina has accepted a full basketball scholarship to St. Anselms in New Hampshire. Senior Danielle Bacon also received All County honors and has accepted a full basketball scholarship to Molloy College. Senior Ashley Rogala received All Conference and was also named the team's scholar athlete. Junior Jessica Matarrese received All Division.

The boys basketball team also qualified for the playoffs this year but were eliminated in the first round by number one seed West Hempstead. Rob Spauster and Pat Harloff both received All Conference awards from the league.

The girls winter track team also had great success this season and Shannon Signoriello and Christine Fama both received All Conference awards. In addition, the boys bowling team had Senior Joe Caprioli receive All State and All County. Other boys who also received All County include Nick Dispirito, Bob Drezner and Gary Schultis. Steve Schultis also received All League. The girls bowling team had Jennifer Rudolf and Michelle D'Attoma receiving All County while Kathleen Mott and Christine Schacht received All Conference.

The boys wrestling team had senior Chris Hagmaier qualify for the state tournament this year where he placed fifth in the 130 pound classification. Chris was also the County Champion for Nassau County.

The league also recognized the following boys: Luis Fernandez (sixth in the county - 145), Mario Benitez (third in the league - 112), Mike McCarthy (third in league - 119), Phil Caccamo (third in league - 171), Steve Swicki (fourth in league - 275), Joe Guidone (sixth place - All League - 103), James LoPresti (sixth place - All League - 96), Anthony Esposito (fifth - All League - 215), James Butler (fifth place - All League - 275).
