The Division Avenue baseball coaching staff is proud to announce that this year they have baseball alumni playing college baseball, who have earned an accumulated $86,055 in scholarship money for this school year. This year's players who are currently playing college baseball on scholarship include:

* Ryan Darcy, a senior at Manhattan College where he has been the number one pitcher on the staff for the last two seasons. Ryan is coming off a summer season where he pitched in the highly regarded Cape Cod Baseball League

* Sophomore catcher Eric Fierro, who is competing for the starting catcher's job again after winning that position as a freshman last season. Last year, Eric had the game winning hit and threw out a potential base-stealer to end the game in a victory over St. John's, a traditional eastern college baseball power

* Mike Pelcher, looking to be the number one pitcher out of the bullpen for the Delaware Blue Hens this season. Mike also pitched for Briarcliffe in the junior college world series in Colorado before selecting Delaware.

* Steve Juliano, a sophomore player at Briarcliffe Junior College this season, has already gotten off to a good start this season, enjoying success on their recent trip to Texas.

* PJ Antoniato is a teammate of Steve's at Briarcliffe and is looking to have another banner season this year after breaking the single season school record for hits last season as a freshman. PJ has already signed his national letter of intent for a baseball scholarship to play next year for St. John's University in the prestigious big east conference.

* Dan Weingart is a freshman pitcher pitching for Sienna College. Dan has already pitched in several games with the Saints on their southern tour in Florida.

* Josh Flinn, who is a freshman at Columbia University, an Ivy League school, which is not allowed to give scholarship money, is looking to break into the starting rotation with the Columbia Lions. Josh passed up several lucrative division one scholarships to attend Columbia because of the tremendous academic reputation of the school.

With this year's scholarship money, the Division baseball alumni have accumulated an unbelievable $912,355 since the 1990 high school baseball season. Two Division seniors have already given oral acceptance to scholarship money this season, but that will be formally announced once the national letters of intent have been signed.

The Division baseball coaching staff cannot express how proud they are of the baseball alumni's success on the athletic field and in the classroom as they continue their academic pursuits at their respective colleges.
