Levittown resident Rickie S. Schneider will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to be held this fall. The walk is a two-day event and Schneider will walk 26.2 miles over the two-day period.

Schneider will be spending the new few months training and fundraising, preparing for the walk. She is one of thousands of people who will be joining the fight against Breast Cancer and the walk is being held to raise funds for the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade and support their mission of providing access to care and finding a cure.

She's required to raise a minimum of $1,750 to participate and is reaching out to the community for help.

"I'm going to need support from many people to reach my goals, and I'm hoping that I can count on you to be part of my support team," Schneider says on her web page devoted to the cause. At the site, residents can make a donation directly from the website and can even choose to spread out their donation into monthly payments. Residents can also opt to send a check.

"This year, according to the American Cancer Society, over 182,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer," Schneider said. "Over 40,000 will die. That's why I'm walking so far, to do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts."
