Board Discusses Proposed State Aid Cuts, Urges Residents to Contact Local Officials
Homeowners could face up to a 10 percent school tax increase if Gov. George Pataki's 2003-04 budget is passed as is. The governor proposes to slash state aid to the Levittown School District by $5.6 million, said School Superintendent Dr. Herman Sirois at the February meeting of the board of education.

Resident Takes up Fight Against Breast Cancer
Levittown resident Rickie S. Schneider will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to be held this fall. The walk is a two-day event and Schneider will walk 26.2 miles over the two-day period.

MacArthur Wrestling Sets Nassau County Qualifying Tournament Record
Both All-League qualifying wrestlers and total points scored in a qualifying tournament records have been broken and new records have been set. MacArthur scored 508 points and crowned 25 wrestlers with All-League honors. Each wrestler qualified for the Nassau County Wrestling Championships. Nassau County has never seen such domination from a single team in a tournament consisting of nine teams. Matt Myers, Steve Mazziotti, Steve Saven and Greg Martorelli all had upset victories to qualify. MacArthur looks strong to repeat as Nassau County Champions for the third straight year. Coach Greenblatt feels strongly about the Generals' chances to repeat. He commented that with 25 wrestlers in the tournament, MacArthur will be real hard to beat.
