Holy Innocents Council Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The Holy Innocents Council was chartered on Jan. 25, 1953, when a group of Catholic men from the areas of Hicksville, Levittown, Plainview and Wantagh formed a council of the Knights of Columbus. The majority of the charter members were parishioners of Holy Family, St. Bernard, St. James and St. Martin of Tours.

Assemblymembers Join in Commuter Tax Issue Hearing
The proposed reinstatement of a commuter tax on Long Island residents who work in New York City was the topic of discussion at a recent hearing sponsored by Suffolk Assemblyman Thomas F. Barraga, the ranking Republican on the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, and his colleagues in the Assembly Republican Long Island Delegation. The hearing was held in Northport on Jan. 23 and was attended by several local elected officials.

MacArthur Wrestling News
On Saturday, Feb. 15, MacArthur will host one of six tournaments which qualify wrestlers for the Individual County Championships. The tournament will also have a team champion. The top teams are Calhoun, Clarke, Herricks, Valley Stream Central, Wheatley and Sewanhaka. Each team can enter up to 30 wrestlers. The Nassau County Championships will be wrestled at Nassau Community College on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22.
