With the Generals trailing by three (64-61) in a recent game against top seed Port Washington, Senior Tom Orbon connected on a three-pointer to tie the score at 64 with 22 seconds left. After a Port Washington basket, Senior Joe Wilkinson went the length of the floor with four seconds left and beat two Port Washington defenders off the dribble to convert a layup and send the game into overtime. In overtime, with a minute left and MacArthur up 71-70, Joe Wilkinson missed the second of a one and one, but Junior Erik Milks rebound and increased MacArthur's lead to 73-70. Joe Wilkinson finished with a game high 27 points and six assists. Erik Milk had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

According to Coach Tuttle, "This was a great win for our kids because we just beat a team who is one of the favorites to win the county title in Conference A. I think this win lets our kids know we can compete with the top teams in the county, considering Port Washington beat defending state champ Walt Whitman this year."

MacArthur's record is 1-0 in league, 6-1 overall. This should be an exciting year for MacArthur basketball so come down and watch the Generals compete against some of the best teams in the country. Remaining home games include Saturday, Jan. 25 against Plainview at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3 against Carey at 7:15 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8 against Elmont at 1 p.m. and Senior Night, Monday, Feb. 10 against Hicksville at 7:15 p.m.
