Almost 8,000 local families have voiced strong opposition to a possible New York City commuter tax and want what's been described as the city's "revenue scheme" derailed as soon as possible, Hempstead Town Supervisor Rich Guardino and Councilman Jim Darcy said during a Dec. 10 press conference.

Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes recently spearheaded an effort to redesign Town Parking Field L-5 in Levittown. The town parking field is located on the corner of Gardiners Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown and encompasses the King Kullen supermarket.

Hat Trick for Levittown
The Levittown School District has had its share of talented athletes. In following that tradition, Levittown has scored a first, with the naming of Gian Villante of MacArthur, the Thorp Award Winner in Nassau County Football. Gian is the third Levittown football player to win this coveted award. Levittown now has a winner in each of its high schools.

Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council's Winter Bowling Programs
The winter bowling season begins anew for the Levittown/Island Trees Youth Council, at North Levittown Lanes in early January with the start of four programs: Two for elementary school children and two for students attending middle school.
