Levittown Fire Chief John Rottkamp invites residents to help needy families this holiday season by donating to the department's annual food and toy drive, to take place this weekend at all local supermarkets, including Pathmark, Stop & Shop, King Kullen and Waldbaum's.

In an effort to help local families in need, the Levittown Fire Department, for the last several years, has reached out to nearby schools to find out which families living in the area could use some help during the holidays. Food and toys are collected by department members and then distributed to the families through the Adopt-A-Family Program. In addition to collecting this weekend, the department also received dozens of toys last month during their annual senior Thanksgiving dinner, when seniors are asked to bring one toy to use for the program. In addition to distributing the items to local families, the department also helps out local religious organizations.

All residents are asked to donate either food (nonperishable items) or a new toy to any local supermarket this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please come down and help those in need this holiday season.
