This year the girls' varsity soccer team at Division Ave. High School is having one of its most successful seasons in recent memory. The Lady Dragons currently have eight wins and one loss overall and are a perfect 6-0 in conference five. This fantastic first half of the season was capped off by a very exciting 2-1 win over cross-town rival MacArthur High School.

A great deal of the Dragons' success can be attributed to senior captains, Kathleen Hunker, Jessica Graziano, Christina Buckley and Lisa Uschakow. Each of these girls has been a four-year player for Division Ave.

Lisa Uschakow had a very successful season as a sophomore and was rehabilitating an injury for her entire junior season. Lisa is a key part of this year's defense that has held opponents to under one goal per game. She is a member of the Key Club, Natural Helpers, Spanish Honor Society and Student Council. Lisa plans to study forensic science in college.

Kathleen Hunker is also a valued member of the Dragon defense and a two-year starter. Kathleen has played every defensive position on the field for Division Ave. She is a member of Student Council, Model Congress, SADD, and the History Club among many other organizations. Kathleen plans to attend Georgetown University to study political science.

Christina Buckley is part of an all-star midfield for the Lady Dragons. She is a three-sport varsity athlete with many major awards to her name, the highest award being a selection to the All New York State basketball team. Christina was also the high scorer for the Dragon lacrosse team last season. Christina is being highly recruited by a variety of colleges to play basketball. She plans to study pre-law in school.

Affectionately known as "Rocky," Jessica Graziano has been the anchor of this year's team. Jess is an All-Conference and an All-League midfielder with aspirations of playing college ball next season. Molloy, Concordia and Briarcliffe Colleges have all expressed interest in Jessica.

With their example of hard work and dedication these girls have set a high standard for the underclassmen to follow.
