Island Trees Prepares for 100th Anniversary Celebration
In preparation for its 100-year anniversary, several retired Island Trees School District employees have volunteered to work with Superintendent Richard N. Segerdahl and his secretary Dottie Bassimer to plan a district-wide celebration. Over the course of the last few months, these individuals have been reviewing thousands of old photographs, news articles and district documents and have compiled the information into dozens of displays to be shown at an upcoming district-wide party in celebration of the past century.

MacArthur High School Hosts Homecoming 2002
Who says you can't go home again? Certainly not the MacArthur students, faculty and staff who welcomed their alumni back to the home field last Saturday under sunny skies and spring-like weather. Drenching rains on the days before had threatened to dampen the celebration but Mother Nature came through - and so did the Generals as they delivered a defeat to the visiting team from Calhoun HS with a score of 7 - 6.

The Island Trees High School JV Cheerleading Team
The Island Trees JV Cheerleading team recently attended an intense four-day session of fun and hard work at the Pine Forest Cheerleading Camp, located in Greeley, PA. The girls were privately instructed by the 2002 members of UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) team on a day-to-day basis, learning two dances and six cheers in total. The team introduced us to a few fun games, such as "The Booty Drop," "The Banana Salute" and of course, the camp favorite, "Peanut Butter and Jelly."

Division Avenue Varsity Volleyball
Division Ave. Varsity Volleyball team is off to its best start in over five years with an undefeated record of 4-0. One of the key reasons for the team's success is senior outside hitter Kristie Ryan. Kristie's leadership ability on the court has enabled the Blue Dragons to take sole possession of first place in Conference B-III. Kristie was named team captain and is currently the team leader in digs.
