The 2002 Boys' Varsity Soccer Season has finally kicked in. The fact that numerous key players graduated last year does not stop this young team from accomplishing their goals. Over the summer, this young team was diligently preparing for a long, hard season ahead. With hard work and dedication, this team will try to achieve, if not surpass, their goal of returning to the semifinals of the playoffs. Coach Radcliffe feels "that anything is possible; this is a very skillful bunch of kids with a tremendous amount of knowledge of the game."
Even though the team this year is young, they feel that they should make it far into the playoffs. There are about five starting positions that have been obtained by very athletic sophomores, followed up by skillful juniors, as well as some key players returning from last year, such as Pete Ruff, Mike Saladino and Pete McAllister, as well as last year's All-Conference player Joe McCauley. After returning back to Division B-1 this season, they will have a rough schedule. The team feels that some tough opponents who they will have to prepare for are Jericho and Valley Stream South.
Various players have expressed their feeling on how there are no games being played at the high school, because of the new track. Seniors especially are upset that their home games are not even at their own school, however, they say "that will not stop them from still playing their hardest, trying to win games."
Good luck this season, boys!
