George Curth, formerly of Levittown, died on July 14, 2002. He was a founding father of Levittown Little League, past president of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce ('64), Lions ('65/'66), Kiwanis ('57), Exchange Club ('75/'76), organizer of Levittown's 20th and 25th Anniversaries and 1976 Bicentennial Celebrator. He was selected Man of the Year for the Town of Hempstead. He is survived by his son George; three grandchildren, Skip, Michale and Susan; and one great-grandson Michael. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Levittown Chapel. Interment Calverton National Cemetery with his wife of 57 years, Josephine. Edward William Jackson Jr., 74, of Wild Horse Mesa, CO, passed away on July 22, 2002, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Ed was born July 11, 1928, in Brooklyn, the son of Edward William Jackson Sr. and Catherine Madden Jackson. Ed was united in marriage to Audrey I. Reisert on Jan. 7, 1956 in Hempstead. He retired from FDNY's Communication Division and also worked part-time as a dispatcher for the Costilla County Sheriff's Dept. He was a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Third Order, Knights of Columbus Council #2226 of San Luis, was a past Grand Knight. He built a retreat house known as Our Lady of the Fields, where many people came to his retreats and he welcomed them into his home. His hobbies included being an avid reader, woodworking, working on his cars, volunteering in all church activities such as the Passion Play in Fort Garland. He was a lector and a Eucharistic Minister for Sangre de Cristo Church. He was a former resident of Wantagh and a former parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife Audrey Jackson of the family home; daughter Barbara Jennings of San Luis, CO; son Edward W. (Suzanne) Jackson III of Bay Shore; granddaughter, Jennifer Macklin of San Diego, CA; sister Madeline (Emil) Niosi of Bradington, FL; a special cousin Katherine Bleich of Ormond Beach, FL. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. A Vigil service was held on July 24 at the Sangre de Cristo Church in San Luis. Interment Sangre de Cristo Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements were made by the Romero Chapel, San Luis.
