Island Trees High School and the Athletic Department would like to congratulate Greg Thomson, Lisa Macchia and Chrissy DeMott for being selected Player of the Year in their respective sport.
Lisa Macchia finished her career at Island Trees by leading the Lady Bulldogs basketball team to the County Championship. She finished with 2,047 career points and control of the paint by blocking an amazing 468 shots. This year she averaged 26.7 points and 18.3 rebounds per game. She will attend Boston College on a scholarship.
Greg Thomson finished his career with a total of 25 homeruns and 163 RBIs in his four years of playing varsity baseball. This year he had 11 homeruns and 41 RBIs. He was selected as an All Long Island Player in his junior and senior years. In his junior year Greg was 6-0 as a pitcher with a 0.43 ERA. He struck out 106 batters in just 52 innings. Greg will attend St. John's next year on a scholarship.
Chrissy DeMott, who will attend Sacred Heart next year on a scholarship, was voted Nassau County Softball Pitcher of the Year. She averaged 11 strikeouts per game and had a game high 20 strikeouts this year against Roslyn. Chrissy finished the year with 244 strikeouts.
