The last time they met, members of the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League did not play their usual tournament, rather they played a game called "Best Ball" or "Scramble" where play is done as a team and not as an individual. Each member of the team tees off and whoever has the best shot leaves his ball there and the rest of the team picks up their balls and everybody hits their second shot from that spot. Then they do the same thing with their third short and fourth and fifth if necessary until someone puts the ball into the hole. Only the best ball for each shot is counted and the score is for the whole team.

The winning team of George Hatalsky, Peter Kerr, Jim Anderson and Lou Neumann shot a score of 31. Two teams tied for second, one being the team of Frank Murphy, Peter Kenny, Ted Marakawa and Al Lauritsen and the other including Sonny Posillico, Bob Lasky, Dom Viccaro and Ziggy Newrowski. Those two teams both shot a score of 32. The first team won the prize because they had a birdie on the first hole while the second team had a par. The longest drive was won by Pat Collins and nobody was closest to the pin.

The next tournament will be on Thursday, July 11. Sign-in time is at 7 a.m. Competition on the nine hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 11 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 12 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league and is always looking for new members. Any man who is at least 55 years of age is eligible. For more information, call Lou Neumann at 681-2056.
