The Republican party recently nominated New York State Assemblywoman Donna Ferrara to run for a newly reapportioned 15th Assembly District (A.D.) which includes the addition of Hicksville. Ferrara, who is the current assemblywoman of the 15th A.D., was selected over Marc Herbst, current assemblyman for the 14th A.D. She will run for re-election this November against Democratic candidate James Buonagura.

DEC to Hold Public Meeting on American Drive-In Cleaners Site
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will hold a public meeting to discuss DEC's proposed remediation of the American Drive-In Cleaners Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Site, on Monday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m., at the Island Trees High School, 59 Straight Lane.

MacArthur Baseball Finishes Outstanding Season
The MacArthur Generals baseball teams finished tremendously successful seasons on all three levels, varsity, junior varsity, and junior varsity "B." The varsity completed the season with 23 wins and four losses, ranked number 4 overall in New York State. They earned a spot in the Nassau County Championship before bowing out to a very strong team from Clarke High School.

Track is Alive and Well and Living in Levittown
There has been a resurgence of interest in track and field in the past few years and according to Coach Myles one of the coaches of Levittown's middle schools, "We have a roster of 45 young athletes from Salk and Wisdom and that's our largest ever!" Apparently it is not isolated to the middle school level either. In a conversation he had with Coach Bradly, one of the high school level coaches, their roster is up to 85 athletes! Coach Bradly said the team is so big that the coaches may decide to form two teams next year, one from Division HS and one from MacArthur HS.
