Veterans Memorial Dedicated to Levittown Heroes
Local residents, veterans, elected officials, families and friends gathered outside the Levittown Library on Saturday for a dedication ceremony of the new Veterans' Memorial. The memorial was constructed in front of the library since the location has been the home of a monument erected by the Levittown - Island Trees Veteran's Council for many years. As part of the Levittown Revitalization Project, the Town of Hempstead decided to build a structure over and around the existing stone monument to add prominence and also enhanced the area with brick, new flagpoles, lighting and plantings.

Residents Honor Veterans and Celebrate Memorial Day
Last Friday, Levittown area residents gathered to officially begin the celebration of Memorial Day weekend with an award ceremony for local veterans. The ceremony took place at the grounds of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce Festival which is held annually during Memorial Day weekend behind the Tri-County Flea Market.

Division Varsity Basketball Seeded Eighth
The Division Varsity Baseball Team was seeded eighth this year in the county tournament, and drew first seeded MacArthur. In the first game, junior Scott Porter was the starting pitcher and did a commendable job, only to lose 4-1. Sophomore Kevin Gerard and senior Ryan O'Shea provided some outstanding short relief pitching in this game. Division pitchers scattered six MacArthur hits.

Island Trees Varsity Softball
First up this week for the Lady Bulldogs was a visit from Valley Stream South. It was a special day as it was Senior Day. Seniors Chrissy DeMott and Liz Dinolfo were given flowers and gifts by their teammates and coaches as a show of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the success of this year's team. Congratulations and good luck in college.
