The Levittown PAL Tomahawks finished another successful week this past Sunday with several exciting games taking place. There are no games scheduled this Memorial Day weekend but we invite all players and coaches to march in the Memorial Day Parade with us on Monday May 27th. Please wear your team jersey and shorts, NO EQUIPMENT or STICKS please, and meet behind the Island Trees Middle School at 9:30 a.m. The available results from Sundays games are as follows: The third and fourth grade Tomahawks played a tough game with the Bulldogs of North Babylon. The teams traded goals back and forth the entire first half with the Tomahawks staying strong and holding onto a 4-2 lead at halftime. The second half however was a different story with North Babylon turning on the pressure. Scoring on a couple of late Tomahawk penalties the Bulldogs regained the lead at the end of the game. The final score of this exciting game was 11-9 with North Babylon coming out on top. The offense of the Tomahawks was lead by Thomas Nuckel who had 3 goals and 1 assist and Patrick Dreiss, (2 goals and 1 assist), in an outstanding effort. Justin Benty had 2 goals and Kyle Jordan and Zachary Parker added 1 goal each. Joseph Gombar had 2 assists. Jamie McAndrew, Keith Kerwin, Tyler Hastings, and Patrick Buckley had great efforts all over the field keeping the ball in the offensive zone by scooping up any open ground ball making them the ground ball kings. Peter Mack, Zack Trimboli, Bryan Seiber and Harry Sopp had great games on defense. Thomas McDevitt and Max Transou shared time in goal both having outstanding games. The fifth graders got back to their winning ways in a well played victory over a tough Seaford team 8-4. Both teams went goal for goal during the first half but the Tomahawks pulled ahead for good in the second. Goalie Joe Homkow was super in the net making 8 saves. He was helped out by the defense of Ryan Tolan, Ryan Sica, Daniel Cava, Kyle Perkins and Mike Porfidio. The offense was provided by Chris Nasaitka and Chris Celentani who each scored two goals and Kevin Fechtmann, Kevin Catalano and Ryan Grant who each scored one. Ryan Phillips, Thomas O’Connor and Thomas D'Argenio each had an assist. Ground ball king of the day was John Rothar who had 5. The team will participate in the Michael Eichenberg Memorial Tournament in Plainview on Monday May 27 going up against some of the best teams on Long Island. The fifth and sixth graders took on East Meadow and won again 7-4. Goalie Tom Bruno had a remarkable 16 saves and was backed up by the tough close defense of Cody Occhini, C.J. Reilly, Sean Kelly and Ryan Ramo who made some super slides and backed each other up thwarting several East Meadow scoring attempts. Groundball king of the day was Tim Whitlock who was all over 6 of them. Doing the scoring were Cody Lacey, (3 goals), John Augeri, (2 goals), Ryan Ramo and Tom Barbieri had one goal each. Dishing out assists were Anthony Ciarvino with two and Travis Hahn, Christopher Dour, Dylan Saccone and Tom Whitfield with one each. The team once again played great as a unit with everybody getting in on the action. Their next game will be at Mineola on June 2nd. In the game of the week the sixth graders took on Mineola in a battle of two unbeaten teams. The Tomahawks emerged victorious 10-7 in a thriller. With the score tied at 5 all goalie Mike Anderson, (4 saves) came up with a big save that turned the momentum of the game towards the Tomahawks. Bryan Hall put on an offensive showcase with his 4 goals and 5 assists while Dan McQuaid was just as impressive with his 4 goals and 1 assist. Also scoring were Kyle Carley, (1 goal and 1 assist) and Brett Tom, (1 goal and 1 assist). The defense of Tom Celentani, Kyle Harren and Christian Ayala was super as they held Mineola in check at the end of the game. Groundball kings of the day were Nick Buckley and Dan Joseph with 6 each. Sean Cox, Chris Spencer, Sean Post and Stephan Shatarah were outstanding in moving the ball on offense. The boys next take their undefeated record to powerhouse Garden City on June 2.
