Progress House Request for Expansion Denied
The owners of Progress House Continued Treatment Center, a rehabilitation facility located at 3095 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, recently appeared before the Town of Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals to request variances of the Town Building Zone Ordinance to permit the expansion of the building, allowing for the construction of a second floor addition for office space; the usage of part of the premises to maintain a large metal storage container and also permission to park in front yards setbacks on Hempstead Tpke. and Grassy Lane, adjacent to the facility.

Dawna LoPiccolo and John Mraz met on Christmas Day 2001 at Ground Zero. Now, less than six month later, the couple will be getting married at the sacred site that brought them together.

Island Tree Sports
The Varsity Baseball Club finished off the regular season with a 17-1 victory over the Manhasset Indians. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-4-2 and the league title. Island trees was led by an outstanding effort by John Zarelli, he tossed a complete game 2-hitter, striking out 16, while walking none. Manhasset was under siege all week by Island Trees hitters. Greg Thomson hit two more bombs, increasing his county lead to 10. Chauncey Garcia continues to stay hot, going three for five, while Matt Ostrowski went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and another homer. The Thompson brothers (Mike and Anthony) went a combined 5 for 10 on the day. Tony Rinaldi went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. The day was capped off by a huge solo homerun by Daniel Sullivan. At the County Seeding meeting, Island Trees was placed with number six seed and will play arch-rival, the Clarke Rams, in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulldogs also garnered seven county player awards. They are as follows: All-County - Greg Thomson, Mike Thompson and Matt Ostrowski. All Conference - Chauncey Garcia, Anthony Thompson and John Zarrelli. All League - Anthony Rinaldo. League BV MVP - Greg Thomson. Congratulations to all of these fine young gentlemen and to the whole Island Trees Baseball Club. Good luck to all of them as they continue to run down a dream.

Levittown PAL Lacrosse Results
The Levittown PAL Tomahawks finished another successful week this past Sunday with several exciting games taking place. There are no games scheduled this Memorial Day weekend but we invite all players and coaches to march in the Memorial Day Parade with us on Monday May 27th. Please wear your team jersey and shorts, NO EQUIPMENT or STICKS please, and meet behind the Island Trees Middle School at 9:30 a.m. The available results from Sundays games are as follows:
