Registration for the 2002 season of Red Devils Football is approaching and local players are invited to join in the football and cheerleading program as the Red Devils celebrate their 50th anniversary. Red Devils Football/Cheerleading serves the communities of Levittown, Island Trees, East Meadow, Hicksville, Wantagh, Westbury and surrounding areas.

"Meet the Coach Day" is taking place on Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at Fred Neist Field, Jerusalem Ave. in Levittown. Registration by mail may be sent to Ed Auld at 11 Bark Lane, Levittown NY 11756. To register in person, residents may go to Fred Neist Field on Jerusalem Avenue (the practice field, north of Hempstead Tpke., south of Old County Road, across from Pilot Lane) between noon and 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19; Sunday, June 2; Sunday, June 23 and Sunday, July 14. Checks may be made payable to Levittown Midget Football.

The Red Devil Board of Directors encourages their coaches to give all children sufficient playing time. They welcome all players to the 2002 season, the 50th anniversary of serving the community with cheerleading and football. Being a very exciting season for the Red Devils, all registered children will receive a 50th anniversary shirt (boys game jersey and girls game shirt) with 50th anniversary yoke. They promise the opening day parade to be a memorable one, which will be followed by rides for children, cotton candy, popcorn and lots of fun for all. The Division Avenue High School band will perform on opening day. There will also be more exciting happenings throughout the season.

All fees include basic uniform and equipment for football players and cheerleaders. Program directors note that the school districts within the communities that the Red Devils program represents do not finance or endorse the program in any way.

Option 1 - Peanut Tackle Football - $45. Anyone born from Dec. 1, 1995 through Nov. 30, 1997. Practice begins on Aug. 3; two practices per week. After opening day in September, practice continues at two per week plus one weekly game (all players report one hour prior to game time). Games are played on weekends at MacLaren Field in Levittown.

Option 2 - Tackle Football (teams chosen by a draft system, subject to age and weight. All players will play for the team they are drafted to - no exceptions). Registration fee $75. Anyone born from Dec. 1, 1989 through Nov. 30, 1995. Practice begins on Aug. 1; three practices per week. After opening day in September, practice continues at three per week plus one weekly game (all players report at least one hour prior to game time). This is a travel team - no requests for teams.

Option 3 - Senior Tackle Football (teams chosen by a draft system, subject to age and weight. All players will play for the team they are drafted to - no exceptions). Registration fee $80. Anyone born from Dec. 1, 1987 through Nov. 30, 1989 is eligible. Practice begins Aug. 3; three practices per week. After opening day in September, practice continues at three per week plus one weekly game (all players report at least one hour prior to game time). This is a travel team.

Maximum fee for football and cheerleading: $160 per family. There will be a $35 charge for all returned checks. No refunds after Aug. 15.

Senior and 12's Football and Cheerleading Teams participate in a Holiday Bowl on Nov 30 to Dec. 1. There will be separate fundraising for this. More information will be given at "Meet the Coach Day" and throughout the season. Holiday Bowl questions may be directed to Ed and Jenn Auld at 796-1622.

Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Games are played on weekends at MacLaren Field. Practice begins on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. A separate fee of $3 per girl will be collected the first night of practice for a team mom gift to be given at Psyche Night.

Option 2 - Games only Cheerleaders - Registration fee $75. Anyone born from Dec. 1, 1987 through Nov. 30, 1995. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This is a travel team. Practice starts on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. A separate fee of $50 will be collected the first night of practice to cover the cost of special cheerleading sneakers. This fee includes $3 towards a team mom gift to be given at Psyche Night. Sneakers will be measured at the field starting the night of practice.

Option 3 - Games/Competition Cheerleaders - Registration Fee $75. Anyone born from Dec. 1, 1987 through Nov. 30, 1995. Must be registered by July 31 - no exceptions. Pre-requisite - at least one year as a Red Devil Cheerleader or participation on other competition cheerleading team (will be verified). Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. After opening day in September, girls are responsible for three practices per week (time/day may change) in addition to arriving 45 minutes prior to scheduled weekly game. This is a travel team. Practice starts on Friday, Aug. 2. Attendance is mandatory at all games and practices starting Labor Day. A separate fee of $75 will be collected the first night of practice to cover the cost of special competition sneakers, bodysuit and socks. This fee includes $3 toward team mom gift at Psyche Night. Sneakers and bodysuits will be measured at the field starting the first night of practice.

Competitions will be determined by the director of cheerleading at a later date.
