The Island Trees Middle School Wrestling team ended their season in a winning fashion. Seven members of the team prepared for their last three matches with the Wildcat Wrestling Tournament in Huntington. Under the guidance of Varsity Wrestler, James Lyons, the tournament produced two champions with Bryan Henriques and Joseph Ambrosio, both winning their weight classes. Runners-up in the tournament were Joseph Cusker and Patrick Williams. Three others placed as Kris Kellam and Patrick Cassidy each finished third, while Julio Fuentes finished fourth.

The Bulldogs then finished the regular season with a 6-2 record to tie Wantagh for first place in the conference. It was the last match of the season, against a Wantagh team that had already defeated the Bulldogs. The team showed enormous poise and development as they marched into Wantagh Middle School and defeated the Warriors in dramatic fashion. Key victories by Joseph Ciaravino, Michael Ciaravino, Santiago Agudelo, Kris Kellam, Michael Garger and Dan Eberlein, led to the victory. The win marks the Bulldog's sixth consecutive winning season and the third time in six years that the team has finished first in the conference. Good luck to the wrestlers entering the All-Middle School Tournament at Herricks High School.
