The Salk Eighth grade girls basketball team coached by E. Tuccillo and A. Atkins, finished their season with a record of 6-5. The highlights of the season included a victory over a talented Berner squad, and an exciting overtime victory over Woodland.

Salk's season started off with disappointment as presumed top player, Megan Orbon went down in the second quarter with a broken ankle. That did not discourage the Seahawks, but instead inspired several team members to pick up the slack and work even harder.

The leading scorers for the Salk were Jill Maricondo, Michelle Gaufman, Lori Sollitto, and Kaitlyn O'Connor. Tracy Nowlin, Francesca Caracciolo, Kristen Sklarsky, and Cassie Murphy provided additional offense for the Seahawks. Nicole Loscalzo, Ericka Morace, Sara Judge, Brittany Cox, and Sam Accurso played outstanding defense. Shannon Degnan, Michele Hall, Marissa Gregory, Amanda Drauch, and Bridgete Berretta provided additional inspired play and hustle. A special thanks to team managers, Amanda Hass and Megan Ohr for all of their time and hard work.

These talented athletes provide a very bright future for basketball in the community. Great season girls!
