Any fan who is familiar with the athletic program at MacArthur H.S. and has followed the football team and now the lacrosse, has to know the name Jason Cappadoro. During the football season, Cappadoro led the Generals to the playoffs at Hofstra for the first time in seven years. He was the quarterback of the team and in addition to leading the team to Hofstra for a first round game against South Side, he set a school record for the most touchdown passes in a single season by connecting 16 times for a touchdown, throwing four in one game against Calhoun.

This past weekend in the Levittown Lacrosse Tournament held at MacArthur, Cappadoro was instrumental in MacArthur winning the tournament. The Generals beat cross-town rival Island Trees in the first round game held on Thursday, March 21. Cappadoro connected for 2 goals and 2 assists and in the final game he had 3 goals and 5 assists when MacArthur met Division Avenue in the finals. Cappadoro scored a total of 12 points overall in the two games on 5 goals and 12 assists. The 12 assists say a great deal about Cappadoro; not only is he able to put the ball in the net, he also demonstrates the ability to spot an open man and has no qualms about passing off to let someone else score the goal. Coach Chris Bergersen is going to rely heavily on Cappadoro's experience this year to hopefully lead the lacrosse team to the playoffs at Hofstra the way he led the football team to Hofstra.

Cappadoro was elected captain of the lacrosse team by his teammates, the highest honor that can be bestowed on any player because it tells you what your teammates think of you. They elect someone captain because they know that he has leadership ability, and they know that they can count on him when it is time to produce. Cappadoro is looking to have the kind of season that will get him elected to the All-County Lacrosse team to go along with his All-County/All-Long Island selection as a football player. Those honors, along with a trip to Hofstra for the playoffs in lacrosse would be the perfect finish to an outstanding athletic career at MacArthur H.S.

Off the field, Cappadoro has the same respect of his fellow students as evidenced by the fact that they elected him class president so teammates and classmates alike recognize his leadership ability.

Next fall, Cappadoro will be attending Stony Brook University on a scholarship. He currently holds a 91.5 average and ranks #82 in a class of 245. Congratulations on a great high school career, both academically and athletically and we all wish Cappadoro the very best next year as he pursues his education at Stony Brook University.
