The Generals led Section Eight to a second place finish at the New York State Wrestling Championships this past weekend. James Strouse won the state championships. He is the second wrestler to ever win a state title for MacArthur. Junior Gian Villante finished with an impressive third place finish. He lost only one bout; 2-1 in the semi-finals. Junior Adam Molano grappled his way to a fourth place finish. Matt DeLorenzo lost his first match in sudden death over time, but wrestled his way back to a fifth place finish. Freshman Bruce Popko had a sixth place finish. James will be competing in the Senior Nationals April 5 through 7 in Cleveland, OH. Adam and Gian have been chosen to represent New York in the Junior National Duals.

The General's whole season tells like a fairytale. It starts with a league then conference, then county championship. They then had six Nassau County Championships. The team ends up as the number one ranked team in New York State. Congratulations to MacArthur High School and all MacArthur wrestlers on a job well done.
