Hard to believe it's Lady Bulldog Softball time again.
After a terrific season last year, being crowned Nassau County champs was just the ultimate reward for all involved.
Coach Logan and Coach Price are looking forward to another great season. Having All-State pitcher senior Chrissy DeMott back on the mound the Lady Dawgs have another great chance to defend their title. Chrissy has accepted a softball and academic scholarship to attend Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut.
Also returning are infielders, senior Liz Dinolfo, junior Jen Grella, Erin Carroll and new to the infield are sophomore Kate Schamberger. Outfielders returning are Corinne Vinberg, Jamie Zetterberg and Erin Dodge. And behind the plate to try and fill some big shoes will be junior Becky Santoriello. Some newcomers to the varsity will be junior Najareet Borjas, sophomores Shannon McAdam, Jessica Kilfoil, Alyssa Fleming, and Ashley Roman. Also joining this year's squad is an outstanding player in seventh grader Beth Hughes. Beth is starting at first base right now and batting cleanup in the batting order. Both coaches are very excited at the opportunity to help Beth become a terrific ball player.
The pre-season is off to a great start. A no hitter was pitched by Chrissy DeMott against the Frogs of Carle Place, on Wednesday, she struck out 14 while walking two.
The offense was led by Liz Dinolfo, Corinne Vinberg and Beth Hughes all having two hits each and each scoring one run. Final score was 4-0.
Finally, Coach Logan and Coach Price would like to thank Town Supervisor Rich Guardino for the beautiful sign that was donated and put on Wantagh Ave. in front of the middle school, recognizing our accomplishment. It truly means a lot to all of us, parents, players and coaches.
