MacArthur's varsity wrestling team won the Dual Meet Championships for the second straight year. The Generals defeated Massapequa HS by a score of 30-20. This is the first time in Nassau County history that a B school has won two Nassau County dual meet championships. MacArthur also emerged as the #1 dual meet time in New York State.
In the finals, three wrestlers recorded pins: Matt Delorenzo, Max Reitmayr and James Strouse. Also recording victories were Adam Molano, Rob Stubbs, Brent O'Donnell and Gian Villante. Coach Greenblatt feels the team's success is primarily due to the leadership of seniors James Strouse, Rob Stubbs, Paul Mazziotti, Max Reitmayr and Joe Vasold. All seniors take pride in their work ethics. The seniors lead by example and the underclassmen follow. At the freshman level, Rob Paletta instills the MacArthur philosophy of 100 percent hard work. Coach Paletta went undefeated for the second straight year. Coach Paletta and Assistant Coaches Tom Bobal and Bill Lehmann all wrestled for MacArthur and they understand the MacArthur philosophy. The Generals next challenge is the Nassau County Championships. This is an individual tournament.
The Generals qualified 21 wrestlers for the championships. Massapequa also qualified 21 wrestlers so this should be a great race for the individual county title.
