As the parent of two sons who are students at Division Avenue High School (DAHS), I am pleased that the rest of the world is finally seeing what I have maintained all along: quality education at DAHS is alive and well.

Just look at the front page of Newsday's Jan. 17 issue. A DAHS student, Lenny Gomez, has been selected as an Intel semifinalist. Kudos to Gomez, Mrs. Trusz, who heads the science research program, Dr. Harry Chertok, principal and all the hard-working student participants.

As a parent, I witness firsthand the dedication of the teachers and the enthusiasm of the students, as well as parents' interest and involvement up and down the halls of DAHS. Whether I am attending school-sponsored events, PTA meetings or consultations with Mrs. O'Brien, my sons' guidance counselor, I never doubt for a moment that DAHS can help both my sons achieve their future goals, whatever they might be.
