On Sept. 11, our country suffered a tremendous loss. Along with all the innocent people that were lost, Ronald T. Kerwin who was the Chief of the Levittown Fire Department was among them. He was assigned to FDNY's elite Squad 288 as their lieutenant.

On behalf of the Kerwin family and the Levittown Fire Department, I would like to thank you for all that you have done. We received so much love and support from the members of our community.

So many of you have sent cards or called to ask what they could do. You are an inspiration to the members of your fire department. I want to personally thank you for your support during these difficult times.

Levittown and Island Trees lost 36 members from our community on that horrific day. My condolences go out to all the families who have lost their loved ones.

As always, the Levittown Volunteer Fire Department is here to help you during an emergency. We receive thank you's for helping you during your difficult time after a fire or medical emergency, now we want to thank you. Levittown is a great community and I am proud to be the chief.

John E. Rottkamp
