This year, I have been fortunate enough to coach the varsity basketball cheerleading team at Division Avenue High School. As a former alumna of Division, I know what it is like to be on the cheerleading team. This year, the girls are truly exceptional. They all work hard and, more importantly, work well together. Each team always has a few standout players. One of ours is Kelly O'Hagan.

Kelly is a senior this year and is one of the co-captains of the team. She has been a junior captain and was captain during the football season as well. Kelly is a true role model to the rest of the team. They genuinely respect and look up to her for advice and direction. Her passion for cheerleading is clearly passed along to her fellow cheerleaders. She finds it to be an exciting and spirit-lifting sport. Kelly's positive influence is present both on and off the basketball court.

Kelly has been an active participant in other aspects of Division Avenue High School. She has been involved in the school play and honor society. Her academic record is impressive, as she will be graduating 17th in her class. Kelly was also honored and recognized by her peers as a homecoming nominee this past fall for all that she has done for the school. She told me that she has had some very memorable times here at Division thanks to the outstanding friendships that she has made throughout her four years.

In the near future, Kelly would like to join the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program to become a mentor and role model to children. She hopes that this will lead her to a career in which she can work with and help others. Her down to earth and genuinely sincere personality, as well as her ability to lead others, will certainly help in facilitating this dream. Kelly is a pleasure to have on the team and I'm sure I speak for the rest of the cheerleaders when I say that I wish her all the best after graduation.
