At the December department meeting of the Levittown Fire Department, Commissioner Tim Courtney swore in John Rottkamp as the new Chief of Department. Chief Rottkamp, a member of the department for the last 17 years, is also the Second Deputy Chief Instructor at the Nassau County Fire Service Academy.

The new chief lives in North Levittown with his wife Susan, two daughters Kaitlin and Ashley and son John Jr.
