Celebrating 99 Years of Island Trees History
The Island Trees School District was formed as a Common School District in 1902 (a common school district could only operate as a K-8 school district).
This year, I have been fortunate enough to coach the varsity basketball cheerleading team at Division Avenue High School. As a former alumna of Division, I know what it is like to be on the cheerleading team. This year, the girls are truly exceptional. They all work hard and, more importantly, work well together. Each team always has a few standout players. One of ours is Kelly O'Hagan.
MacArthur High School Volleyball Finishes Successful Season
This year, the MacArthur Varsity volleyball team's success was not measured by its wins, but certainly by the dedication and effort of the players. The team was led by three seniors and co-captains, Mary Ann Gutkind, Kelley Johnston and Danielle Rodier. Some other key players were Ashely Chung, Jackie Muller, Rachel Pagona and Jessica Robinson. Two strong sophomores who helped the team out were Jessica Flavin and Leah Bogstead. Since there are only three players graduating, this young team looks forward to improvement during next year's season. They are also bringing back Nasau County All-Conference players, Jackie Muller and Ashley Chung to strengthen their program. Danielle Rodier and Mary Ann Gutkind were also selected scholar-athletes for the 2001 season by the Nassau County Volleyball Coaches Association. Congratulations goes out to each member of the team and good luck next year.
