The Levittown PAL Lacrosse program will be back in full swing come the new year. Once again, varsity lacrosse players from the area high schools will be assisting with instructing the PAL players for the winter clinic program. With the care and assistance of their high school coaches, the varsity players are instrumental in improving the skill level for all the PAL members whether they are brand new to the sport or "seasoned" veterans. The Levittown PAL program provides gym time on Saturdays in January and March for the PAL players as well as varsity players from Island Trees, Division and MacArthur. This is a winning situation for everyone as the varsity and PAL players all get an early jump on conditioning and readying their skills for the upcoming spring season. In addition, the younger players get to meet and interact with their future varsity coaches at an early age. Hopefully, this nurturing will result in a long lasting relationship with the coaches as well as the sport of lacrosse. Anyone who would like to register for the winter lacrosse indoor clinic should call the PAL office for more information at 579-7999.
Spring registrations for both the boys and girls PAL lacrosse programs will continue in January with three more registration dates. The registrations will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and Thursday, Jan. 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Levittown PAL office on Division Ave. The final registration will be on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Levittown Memorial during the winter clinic from noon to 2 p.m. The spring PAL lacrosse program for boys is open to grades one and two for the clinic and grades three through six for league play. The girls lacrosse program has a clinic for second-graders, and league play for grades three through six. The Levittown PAL also sponsors a seventh-and eighth-grade girls team that plays in the LISGYLL league using modified US Lacrosse rules. This league was specifically started to allow middle school girls to gain additional instruction and game experience. Girls playing on this team are eligible to play on both the PAL team and their middle school team. Once again, for more information, call the Levittown PAL office at 579-7999.
